OK For years I've had arguements over this topic, though in the past few they've pretty much dissapeared. My father factory ordered what is now my 1968 GT fastback about 3 months into my life. He ordered headrest and I have three different docs to prove it. But when the car was still really clean and nice back in the 80's I'd go to car shows (never entered it as it's a daily driver) and morons would tell me thinks like;

"Why'd you ruin that car by adding headrests." to "Why'd you put 69 seats in it."

Headrest were an option but until now I've never been able to find a place that would a) acknowlede this, and B) sell aftermarket headrests that for it, or c) further more find an upholstery shop that could match the headrest to whatever dye lot item you bought out of some catalog.

NPD National Parts Depot's 2005 catalog now offers 68 seats with the optional headrest upholstry kits to match whatever dye lot you order. So, in other words, those of us with the semi-rare 68 headrests can finally get our entire interior seats and headrest restored and matched.

Yeah!

Help.

I spoke too soon.

I have the two tone colored seats (Dark and Light Ivy).

Apparantly NPD doesn't offer the deluxe seats in my color, hence, no headrests. And they won't sell headrest seperate.

So my question is, is the 2-tone color seats deluxe and the the 1 color standard for sure?

Front headrests were a new, stand-alone option in 68.
What's your interior code off the door plate? Do the seat backs have a couple chrome emblems in them?

No emblems on the back and the door plate is on the rusted out door in my dad's basement. Though the following might help.

2G I think

Yep, 2G is the standard interior - not deluxe. BTW, that buildsheet proves the headrests are original - box 32.
