66 dash voltage regulator

Does anybody know how to test a voltage regulator from the 5 guage dash on a 66 coupe? The car has no power at all or battery. Volt meter to test resistance? Could some kind person also point me in the right direction on how to wire it back up too. The original wires were all cut & burnt. Im having no luck with American Autowire replying via tech support sadly. Im stuck at this point and wires are not my strongest of skill sets!

Mart,

I'm going to suggest you invest in the OEM shop manual. It will tell you just about anything you are looking for, including the schematic for the wiring colors and what not, including diagnostics, testing, etc.

I also went to American Autowire and fired off an email to the president about your plight. You're in the UK, so call them in the evening to late evening and keep leaving messages. Be persistent.

Could you send some pictures of what you're looking at - on both the cluster and the wiring mess? You'd wish everything was completely color-coded correctly.
