Thumbs up

hey everyone, i have been the happy owner of two mustang gts to date an 89 and a 2000. i have a new object of my affection, a 64-68 mustang coupe. i have several i am looking at that are fairly clean. the bodys are realy solid interior is in good shape needs cleaning. at any rate they are going for ~$7000. i am going to drive these cars this weekend and i am looking for any tips or pointers fort buying. is 7000 to much to ask for an overall fair condition 289 coupe? what should i look for with this old of a car? i would also like to have the original paint color, is there any site that has a color list for these cars or how can i be certain about the pain? any suggestion or tips would be greatly appreciated.
thanks,
jason

The body should be as rust free as possible. Look for options, like front disk brakes, center console, ect. Check and see if the engine has been rebuilt recently and will it be able to run on unleaded gas.

The cowl, the cowl and the cowl, those are the top 3 priorities anyway. If you have cowl rot on an early model and it's your first classic experience you'll be making the local body guy rich. Anything else you can eventually handle with a combo of some work being done for you and some common sense and a good set of manuals plus the advice of folks on the forums.
