429 ci engine that would fit in the 69 stangs

awhile back I foudn a site that was selling an all aluminum 429ci engine that puts out 600hp and 650tq. When reading, I read that it was used for redoing 69 stangs for modern drag racing. It sold for 15k and had a 6speed tranny (sold seperately for 6k if I remember correctly). i was wondering if anyone has seen this lately (it's been about 4 years since I read that article) or if they bought it. At first, I thought it was Ford racing, but I don't think they'd make something like that and sell it to the public.

Ford Racing has several powerful crate engines, including 460 and 514ci, but I don't see any 429s.

Check out Kar Kraft. They have a 429, but it's not $15K.

would the 460 or 514ci big blocks fit in a 69 fastback engine bay?

Actually, I would probably get that Ford Racing Crate engine for $8100, the 514ci one, since it's sold at

LAMARQUE FORD Local Sales, Installation, Mail Order, Wholesale. KENNER, LA 70062800-259-2881

And a friend of mine works there and can give me his 20% (or 15% I forgot which) discount. So if that would fit in the 69 fastback I'm looking to build, then I've found my engine!

Yes, it would fit. I think there are some companies out there that make kits for the install.

Some additional information . . http://www.fomoco.com/ford-forum-fe/...e=8&Style=Full

Well, I found the engine I want at http://www.fordracingparts.com/parts...tKeyField=9287

Says it puts out 625hp and 600tq. I've found a site that sells the mounting hardware and the heads for a 460 engine, but not a 514 http://www.critesrestoration.com/mustang.htm. Anyone know of any 514 kits out there?

Isn't the 514 essentially a bored/stroked 460?

Yes, I believe that the 514 is a Stroked 460. The performance difference between the 2 are incredible... the 514 is 625hp and 600tq, whereas the 460 is 550hp and 545tq. The displacement is also 520 (on the 514ci) whereas it's 460 on the 460ci... I believe I'd have more ability to get more power out of the 514, even though it'll be harder to find and more expensive. The 514 should also withstand the extreme power I want her to have (around 900hp and 850tq). The hardest part of having this engine will be routine maintaince and the actual build process. I've been looking for the mount and header kits for the 514 with no success yet, been seeing many for the 460 though. I know it's a lot money difference in the 2, almost $2000, but the bragging rights, the extra 'UHPH', and the trust is worth every penny.

Plus, I get to have a sticker that says, "Powered by: Ford Racing." As we all know stickers add 10hp!
