I am looking to get the best fitting header for a stock 69 mach 1 351w auto. I don't want to relocate the PS with a bracket. Does anyone out there with a 69 have info on shorty headers that fit the stock heads clean? If not then what is the best long tube for the job, and does the PS lowering bracket cause any trouble with the linkage?

I run Hooker Comps on mine right now. With a C-4 and it used to have power steering.
I converted it to manual later on. I don't remeber any problems at all with linkage or anything.

If you are interested, I could make you a good deal on my used ceramic coated long tubes for your ride.
they are the 1 5/8" primary to 3" collecctor. (I am pretty sure on the collector sizebut not positive)

Also, I used both stock heads and twisted wedge heads and never had a problem.
With my 426W I need larger tubes, thats why I am getting rid of them.

Let me know if I can help you any more on that.

Thanks for the reply. I figured hooker or hedman are the standard long tube that most people run on a 351w. I just hate having to move that PS ram, it doesn't look right. That's why I am hoping to find some info on a shorty that fits.

I plan on doing the same thing you did (eliminate the power steering) later down the road. I have seen the converter in all the mustang mags. You don't remove any of the power linkage, just the pump right?

It's been awhile since I did it, but you remove the pump and install the replacement piece and that should be it. It wasn't hard if my memory serves me correct. Pretty simple deal, and cleans up the engine compartment as well. B)

I have been very happy with my JBAs, replaced a set of Hedmans that replace a set of unknowns. Ford Powertrain makes some really nice LTs if you want to go that route.

Thanks Jay. Did the JBA's have the same lowering bracket as Hooker or Hedman?
