1966 Man. Steering Gear Box Removal

I have a shop telling em that they have to lift the engine in order to pull out the long shaft steering gear box in my '66. Is this right? From what I have read, they can tear down the steering colum, remove the steering wheel, remove the driver side header and lift it out that way. Anyone done this before?

I'm 99% sure the 64.5-66 shaft is one long piece attached to the box, and it pulls out from under the car.
