Does a 1969 brake disc spindel fit on a 1966 coupe?

If no why? and if yes do i have to change anything?

If I remember right, yes it will fit. I would want to know more about what you're going to wind up with engine wise as well, as that really matters. Keeping the 6 is one thing, and technically simple, making it a v8 is a whole other set of needs. Of course, if I'm wrong, PLEASE, people, shoot me down with predjudice. I don't want people gettin' hurt because I'm an idiot. Again. But I'm pretty sure I'm right.

Changing the spindles is a simple bolt in on the control arms, I believe, BUT, your steering linkage, specifically the outer tie rod end, will not work in the V8 spindle you're putting on. You will have to change the steering linkage completely (outer tie rods, sleeves, inner tie rods, drag link, steering and pitman arms, I believe.), OR...you *could* sleeve the V6 outer tie rod end to work on the v8 spindle... not recommended though.

OTHER than that, if you're keeping the V6, you are fine like that. Although the rear end you might also want the 5 lugs, there are many options on that, whether that's a 4-5 lug conversion from SSBC, or finding and rebuilding a V8 rear end (and maybe a custom drive shaft for that), and springs if needed.

Regarding the front brakes, you simply bolt the 69 ones on, and do whatever brake line changes needed if any. Bleed 'em and go.

IF you are also converting from v6 to v8, you have a lot of other things to do. The above steering changes are required, as well as V8 shocks and springs all the way around, and a V8 rated transmission, driveshaft, and axle housing complete, wheel to wheel, for a v8.

The v6 and v8 were completely different animals under the skin, and not many things, save the control arms and springs, were the same.

You can google 'convert v6 to v8 Mustang' and get a LOT of hits that will give you a LOT of info on this very subject. It's not for the weak of wallet, time, or patience.

You can also google for '4 lug to 5 lug conversion Mustang' for both info and kits. Might be worth looking into. Also 'drum to disc Mustang'.

That... Should (?) do it on that. Good luck!

thank you for your reply!

This will help me allot i was afraid to use those spindles because i heard some things about bump steering. I found allot of info in the internet but it's not always consistent some people say u can use it some people say u can't

It's indeed a costly operation, but i found cheap rear end and spindles. Engine is already V8 and shocks are replaced by Koni.

So most of the costs are already done.
But i have much time and do it slowly look around for the right parts it will be fine.
