1965 GT engine question

I recently inherited a 1965 GT. It has a 4 speed trans. It also has a 302. Was this ever an option for factory stock.

4-speed yes. 302 no. 302 came along in late 1968.

The 65 had the 289 in it. A 4 speed if the VIN had an "A" in it. Mine has a 302 out of a 68 in it.
