Ford Dealers Still in Dark About 2015 Mustang
According to published reports, Ford dealers have been getting the same silent treatment by Ford as everybody else when it comes to information about the car.
After flying to Las Vegas for a meeting with top Ford execs hoping to get a sneak peak at the car and the new F-150, thousands of Ford dealers were instead showed a 15-passenger version of its Transit van. The Wall Street Journal is reporting that after requiring the dealers to sign confidentiality agreements Ford execs wouldn’t even acknowledge that the company is launching on a new Mustang.
News that Ford plans to unveil the new model this week in Detroit to a group of select journalists apparently is making matters worse.
A Ford spokesperson said the company never told the dealers that the new Mustang or F-150 would be shown at the Vegas meeting, according to the Wall Street Journal story. However, in the past, it has not been uncommon for carmakers to provide dealers with a sneak peak of upcoming models to help ramp up dealer morale.
Maybe, this time Ford just isn’t willing to buy into the idea that “What happens in Vegas Stays in Vegas” considering all that’s at stake.
