Recently Ford tuner Steeda stated that the 2015 Ford Mustang had gained nearly 300lbs. Later, though, they retracted their statement saying it was just a guess based on “previous experience” with IRS suspension Mustangs. Well, now a Florida dealer has shared some new information on the 2015 Mustang and it’s some great news—in a way.

Turns out the Ford Mustang will gain some weight for 2015 over last year’s model. So, unfortunately Ford did was not able to keep their promise of a lighter Mustang. However, the weight gain is fairly negligible when compared to typical gains in new models. From 2014, a V6 Manual Coupe weighed in at 3,501 lbs., now the same car will be 3,526 lbs. More impressive is the Convertibles don’t gain as much weight, 3,630 in 2014 is now 3,644 in 2015. That’s less of a weight penalty than the hardtop!

I know you’re asking about it. “What about the V8? How much does it weigh?” For 2015, the GT with a manual will weigh in at 3,704 lbs. for a gain of 86 lbs. So much for that added Fat Guy weight. Oh, the 2.3 liter EcoBoost version with a manual transmission will weigh in at 3,517 lbs and be the lightest of the bunch.
