Steeda Boss 302 Specific Cold Air Intake - Official Release

Our long awaited Boss 302 specific cold air intake is now on our website. Orders placed now should start shipping in the next few days.

As good as the Boss 302 Mustang is, there is still room for improvement and we have found it. Improving on the factory airbox was difficult but we pulled it off.

The intake can be ordered by itself for those that already own a tuner or as package with an SCT XCal 3. Custom tuning is required due to the much larger MAF housing.

Peak to Peak gains of up to 28hp and 22ft/lbs of torque have been achieved, with point to point gains of as much as 32 horsepower and 25 ft/lbs of torque! Our testing was done on what were otherwise bone stock Boss 302's. Outside of the cold air and tune, no other modifications were performed, even the inserts for the side pipes were in place.

Cold Air Intake: http://www.steeda.com/store/boss-mustang-cold-air-intake.html

Cold Air and Xcal3 Tuner: http://www.steeda.com/store/boss-mustang-power-pak.html

Thank you to everyone who has been patiently waiting for this!

Nice work. Will an intake be offered without the sound tube connector?

From the bottom air scoop the factory put in. This CAD drawing is for the 2010 cold air, but it shows the bottom scoop I am referring to.

It will include a plug for the sound tube if you do not want to use it.

How does the CAI affect TracKey tune? I assume your tune will remap the standard factory tune (black key)?

I'd sure like to see another pull with the hood closed. It just seems unfair that your part can pull air from above the open element and thru the factory location, while the stock system only pulls thru the front entry location.

Do you offer a tune without the new cold air system?

How would that compare to your cold air with tune?

I hope it doenst sound like I'm down on Steeda. To the contrary, I think you are probably the most reputable aftermarket seller out there!

Thanks!

If you need a tune with their intake most likely it's not going to work without a tune which means it won't work with TK.

Currently there is no SCT support for the track key, all tuning is done off the standard black key. Use of the track key would require the stock intake system to be in place.

Our testing position has always been that hood up testing is the only way you get the same aircharge temperatures you would see when the car is actually moving at speeds of 50 miles per hour or higher with the hood closed. Testing with the hood closed just gives you the higher temperatures you would see when you are not moving sitting at a traffic light, or traffic jam.

That is useless in our opinion for testing as you will not have your engine at 7,000rpm in say the top of 3rd gear under load and have no airflow into the airbox cooling the air charge temps. Its counter intuitive.

If you take a shop fan and carry it over to the upper grille opening and hold it there while someone else holds their hand at the bottom opening for our cold air you will feel the air coming in with your hand. Imagine what that is like at speed. There will be a good volume of air coming in there giving you ambient air charge temps. Having the hood up gives you the same result.

I want this mod, but I'm worried about the #8 piston issue.

I'm in. Thanks for the development of a Boss specific intake. Others just make due with the GT intake and claim it also fits the Boss.

I might be in for this already, Steeda I believe will stand behind it.

If this CAI comes for the black key and also has the Loopey idle, I woundt need the Trackey Tune, as of right now I dont Road Race my Boss, which I believe the Trackey was made for, (Engine Braking etc)
