New SVT Mustang Could Make Appearance in September
It seems the announcers at an Indianapolis Motor Speedway race might have leaked a bit of important information on the new Mustang, like when the GT350 might make its first appearance.
Read the rest on the Mustang Source homepage.

A Man Just Needs Some....
I believe the gt350 and gt500 are Shelby's trademark. Pretty sure just the cobra Ford owns. So what is this? SVT or Shelby? I believe the gt350's are modded at Shelby instead of off the production line. Unless things have changed.

If it's SVT, maybe it's a new age COBRA, or a new snake that is coming out.
That would coincide with the fang look on the front end. Just a thought.

No matter the name, it's exciting we'll be seeing a version of it soon. Keep in mind we saw the Boss 302R before the production car.

Jump over to TeamShelby. There is a lot of speculation over there. Actually, the GT500 is/was assembled along with the Mustang at Ford. The SuperSnake, GT350, etc., are "retrofitted" at Shelby American in Las Vegas; and some at Tasca in Cranston, RI.
I've owned a couple "Shelbys", and like the moniker, but I personally don't care what SVT calls their new invention. If Ford renews, or continues, their partnership with Shelby, the new car will have that built-in name surcharge.
Other titles may include Mach 1, Cobra, or maybe just SVT. Whatever its name, I will be calling one of them... mine!

Supposedly Ford had talks with Carol Shelby before he passed. Apparently that included Shelby giving the GT350 name to Ford. In 2014 Shelby discontinued the GT350 name and renamed the car Shelby GT. This is good evidence that the car will be named GT350, along with the rumors that came out before that. This is all speculation, but I feel like this is a real possibility. No matter the name, it's exciting we'll be seeing a version of it soon. Keep in mind we saw the Boss 302R before the production car.

"A rose by any other name..."
Why not just comport it to Ford's more general performance car naming scheme and call one the "Mustang ST" (GT350) and the other the "Mustang RS" (GT500).
I think the excellent and very popular Fiesta and Focus STs have given that badge a great deal of street/performance cred that the Mustang could/should tap into.
No reason every Mustang name has to be so intractably mired in some bygone past and would at least indicate that the S550 is a fully modern car, not just some archaic retro-dream for wistful baby boomers to relive their youth.

I really don't care what they call it, as long as it kicks *** and takes names.
I want gobs of power and torque and great handing.

Everyone says the same on the focus st forums. I feel like they should have called the ecoboost mustang the Mustang ST. Also think they should have a Fusion ST... Many people would argue that's what the new mustang is :troll: I would love to see a svt cobra and cobra r or gt350 and gt500
