Model year or calendar year 2014?

I'm slightly nervous though........just how the heck do they not make an evolution of the 2005/2010+ Mustang if they are going to try and keep the things that made the original cars great?

Please please pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease don't turn the Mustang into just another generic sports coupe

You know what? I really think Ford needs to show us a glimpse (concept car please) of where they are going. Give us a chance to stop them in their tracks if needs be.

A quote from Eights from a thread in this section:

1. "...new age Mustang" The '04 Mustang was "contemporary" for its day. As was the defunct Gaymaro and the Fireturd. For that matter, so was the '04 T-bird, the GTO, and in fact all Pontiacs. What did that get them? If the Mustang had remained "contemporary" or gone "new age", we'd have a vehicle that no one woulda found offensive (well, the marosexuals woulda...), but few would have considered such a Mustang compelling & exciting enough to come up with a downpayment. The lovely retro styling of the '05 S197 saved the Mustang--there was just too much good competition with contemporary styling or new age styling for the Mustang to have been able to stand out as the car that you want badly enough to sign on the line for 36 or more monthly payments. Hau Thai Tang FTW

Perfectly put. And the same will be true in 2014. It needs to scream MUSTANG and if that means it still has traces of retro, that's cool by me.

Very nice find!!! At 5:10 on the video he says "come about 2013 we'll see a very cool Mustang". Something like that . Things must be going to break out sooner than i was thinking.

This leads me to believe a 2013 release (2014 MY).

Having a big car show tomorrow. Got together with some of the Mustang guys. Someone said he heard from an insider that Mustang will get IRS, DI with the 5.0 putting out 425+ but the size of the Mustang will be the size of the Genesis coupe weighing around 3200-3400 lbs. Look for paddle shifters or a shift gait in the auto. Says it will be more towards the modern look than retro.

This would be awesome -- smaller, lighter, more powerful, more efficient, better suspension and handling, updated looks (presumably with strong Mustang DNA retained), what's not to love here?

A 3200 lb 425 hp 5.0 would absolutely scream: acceleration, braking, handling. And we'd probably see more like 28mpg Hwy.

Try 30MPG for GT and 35MPG for V6

Hmm, I'd love for that to be the case, but J Mays said "we need to take more of a jump" so somehow they'll be taking the Mustang DNA but putting it in a modern interpretation of the 'Stang. I still can't picture what that looks like.

When DON'T they have pressure.
They always know they have people to answer to...49th, 50th or 51st anniversary.

Agreed but you have to admit the 50th is special... I know I have very high expectations for the 50th.

I hope they do better on the 50th than GM did on the Corvette. That was abysmal.

We need more than just a special color and some badges Ford.

Agreed, it almost a shame they didn't delay the Boss until 2014, a grand slam SE would be nice, but price + ADMs would leave alot of people out so a special color palette and badges for the regular folks wouldn't be a bad idea to include.

DI - big deal except for a high compression forced induction engine

IRS - fine, it works for the Camaro, but damnit, it better be made out of frigg'n unobtanium so it doesn't spit its guts everywhere and it better work just as well as the stick axle in all situations! And it better be in a cradle, none of that last century stuff where the various links connect directly to the chassis! and no I dont think you can get either a proper SRA or IRS under there so its gotta be one or the other or is 2003 Cobra all over again.
