USB port dead

I unplugged my IPOD from the USB port on the console and pluged in my unlocked 3G IPHONE. nothing happened. Didn't play music or anything. Reconnected the IPOD and now I can't access USB. The phone works in bluetooth audio and pairs. Tried other devices and did a master reboot from the nav screen, usb port still dead. CD, DVD, Radio, and BT Audio works. USB port dead as a doorknob. Can't go to dealer because nearest is 3 hours away. Need to fix this at home. Thanks

Yep, tried original IPOD cable, tried IPHONE cable (both are identical) and tried two different aftermarket cables. No Joy.

Read that pulling fuse #3 will reset the entire system and restore the USB port. I'll try that in the morning. I read that the problem is the IPHONE and it's multitasking software. I'll be happy if I can just get the USB back.

In the smart junction box (fuse panel with no fuses) there is the sync relay. Unplug and replug in, should reset it. It is a plastic box looking thing.

Where is this? I couldn't find it in the manual.

Anyways
I pulled the fuse (what a PITA) and went played Farmville for awhile, came back and reinstalled it and now it's working again. No more IPHONES connected to the car for me.

Looks like they changed the electrical for 2011, but pulling the fuse will reset it as you have found out. On the 2010 there is a large plug thing to pull, on the 2011 it looks like they went back to fuses.
Glad you got it working.

So what fuse # did you end up pulling? #3?

Would be good to know... just in case! Glad you got it working again though.

The fusebox location is an absolute PITA! I don't know what the engineers were thinking... or not thinking!

I've had my USB lock up once or twice, found that my iPod was to blame. Doing a simple reset took care of it.

Yes, the #3, it is the 3rd fuse from the bottom that controls SYNC. You might want to put a towel or something down there because if you drop the fuse (which is easy to do) you gonna play hell trying to find it and fish it out.

Sometimes mine doesnt automaticly recognize my devices, I have to search for them with the menu button, music button, or aux button.
