Put the BOSS/CS lower valance on our car

We went ahead and removed the texture and painted most of it Kona Blue to match all the other parts we color matched.
Painting it makes a huge difference IMO.
We have the BOSS splitter coming and will be installing our JLT Brake Cooling Kit before our track event April 23, 24 @ VIR.
I'll post pics along the way. BTW,install couln't have been easier. 30 minutes tops.
What do you think?

Thanks
Jay

Jay- that looks terrific!
Are you going to get it covered with the 3M tape to protect it?

About how much time/labor went in to painting it? I am not a painter, so I'd have to have a pro do it... (if I want it to look good. )

I definitely plan on getting the CS front for mine, too.

It looks way better painted than left black. I also painted the grill surround (see below), rocker panel moldings, and rear valence on mine. I like your wheels, Jay.

Thanks.
Do you have any other pictures of the grille painted, it's hard to make out. That may be next.

I usually have my cars wrapped in Ultra shield and still may do this one. It's worth it.
As far as cost, I've been out of the body business too long to know what they would charge. I know "I" would want too much, it's not an easy job.

Thanks
Jay

Jay, nice job painting that lower fascia. That's the best job I've seen yet. Leaving those parts black makes it look like it was factory painted. Are you leaving the Boss splitter black?

That's the problem with Kona Blue. If it's in the shade - and the grill surround typically is - it pretty much looks black. Here's a picture where you can see that the "upright" is indeed blue, although it's not a close-up and you can't see the entire grill surround.

I want to paint mine too when I get it, but I've been told that paint wont stick tot he ABS plastic properly and that it will easily crackk and flake off wayy sooner rather than later.

What process was used to painted and what materials? Any guarantee on the work?

+1000 for the grill surround. I really dislike the factory black.

I think matching valences are good for dark color cars but lighter color cars need contrast.

I've been painting these parts for years. If a shop says it will crack or peel fast, find another shop.

Tucker- did you use an adhesion promoter before the paint? That was used on my other car when I had some plastic parts painted and it worked just fine. Even where the chin spoiler did get some rock chips, they didn't flake off from there or crack.

Yes, we use adhesion Promoter on all plastic parts, plus it also about the sanding, primer and other materials used.

I'll be testing it out at VIR in a few weeks

When I went to the body shop, the guy writing up the ticket said he didn't know if the paint would stick. He talked to the shop foreman, and the foreman said no problem, he knew what to do. I don't know what product he used. That was about 7000 miles ago and it still looks good.

Finally got the splitter on this weekend and made up some brake cooling kits.
*At this time we will not be offering a brake cooling kit, we have some things to work out before we have a package*
I think it looks killer. I can't wait for VIR this coming weekend I'm going to slice some ankles with this thing
Enjoy:

I like it painted too. I just wish mine hadn't chipped off so easy.
