LEDs installed for Map Lights, Trunk, and License Plate
I posted this a while ago on another forum. I figured some people here might enjoy the before/after photos.

For a while I've been wanting to replace the "warm" colored lights in my vehicle. I felt that a crisp white would really spruce things up for relatively cheap. Below are some before and after photos. The light was fairly difficult to photograph with my point and shoot camera. If you decide to install any LEDs remember that they are polarity sensitive - if the bulb doesn't illuminate simply flip it around.
Map/Dome Lights
Bulb type: 194, 168, 158, 2821
Price: $9.99 for two bulbs. One pair required.
Observations: Illumination greatly improved. Really improves the look of the interior at night since the light is pure white opposed to orange or yellow. Bulbs glow very slightly even when the map lights are off.
Installation: Due to the size of these bulbs, you will be required to pop out the lenses. It's very easy once the map light assembly is removed from the vehicle. Video instructions for dome light assembly removal.
Before/After:
Trunk Light
Bulb type: 212, 211, 212-2, 214-2, 578
Price: $12.99 each. One required.
Observations: Illumination improved. The trunk light wasn't terrible - but this gives more usable light and a better color.
Installation: Push the plastic bulb housing towards the driver's side of the vehicle. Insert a flat blade screwdriver into the other side and gently pry it outward. You want the housing to pop out from the passenger side first.
Before/After:
License Plate Lights
Bulb type: C5W, 6411, 6418, 6423
Price: $3.70 each. Two required. Size: 3910-x6. Color: Natural White (perfectly white, no hint of orange or blue).
Observations: Illumination vastly improved. Looks great compared to stock.
Installation: Each bulb housing is held in place with two philips screws. Remove the screws and use a flat blade screwdriver, or your fingernail, to pull the housing out from the bumper. Be gentle, it doesn't require much force at all.
Before/After:
If you use Google you can find some 15% off coupons for V-LEDs.

The only reason I paid the price premium is because I wanted to guarantee 5k bulbs. Many of them are 6k which have a cool blue tint to them - I wanted to avoid this.

I like my reverse lights with the LEDs- it's not at all difficult to take apart either. Undo a few bolts and they pull right out. Looks killer when they do light up tho. Completes the rear lighting.
These should fit. $12 for 2 of them. Natural white. 99% identical to mine (Recon...)

I thought the reverse lights would stay on real dim if they were changed to LEDs? You have to wire in a resistor to avoid that.
Those look good. I've used Super Bright LEDs for all of my past purchases, but V-LEDs has a good assortment of products as well. The 5000k look really great.

Mine have 9 LED's not 12. like above... I got Lethal Performance's for $15. (The Pic)
And yes, they do stay on real dim. But you seriously have to mash your face up to the back end to even tell. No one can see unless they're 1 inch away and told that the lights are on... It's quite trivial.

For some reason or another, one of the plate lights started to flicker- a bit much that it was too noticeable. So I ended up ordering another 3 of them just in case this happens again...
Could be a fluke...

I also have the reverse lights from Lethal. They work wonderfully, and until you just said something, I never even noticed they stayed on. It doesn't really matter, the amount of juice they take is insignificant really. Now I will need to upgrade the rest of my lights to match. Good post.

So I just used up the last 2 led plate lights. Collectively I've bought 5 now. and They all slowly but surely went...
Some things I've noticed- My light position is usually kept in auto. And so when I start it when it's dark (I have auto start and use it often)- all the lights turn on first and then the plate lights turn on in waves for about 1 second (they lights stutter I guess you can say.). That is to say like goes to full strenght to say half strenght about 4-5 times within 1 second. Synced with when the engine turns over basically.
So I'm thinking if when it's dark I'll just keep it in off position whenever I start it- be it auto or while inside. So that way I can just turn the dial to switch all the lights on and bypass the startup...
But I'll try one more batch...
If they're not up to spec- I'll figure out something else I guess...
