FYI:

Supposedly Monterey Grey Replaces Sterling in 2012...Check out Fiesta...looks more like the 2009 SEMA Ford Accesories Mustang

If that's the case it reminds me of alloy gray... As under certain lighting it can look black.

Monterey Grey looks like a cross between Tungsten and Alloy. It has a little of that purplish tinge that Tungsten had. Still a nice color though, IMO.

I loved Alloy on my 2007. On the new ones, though, I prefer the much-lighter Sterling Gray as it, IMO, provides a much better contrast with the blacked-out grille, rockers, etc.

those wheels look like the little prius wheels. are they 12"?

Yeah, I worked at a few stores that mixed paint and it was pretty wild what mix colors went into some of the different paints.

I've got the same question, because this is the first I've heard of this and I think I finally decided on a color for my 2012, so I hope it isn't true. Can anyone else corroborate this?

not sure what he's talking about. sterling gray is still an option on the 2011 explorer. which even isnt out yet. also 2011 taurus

I hope not -- I think Sterling is dark enough as it is.

But, as long as we are talking Fiesta colors, I really want Blue Flame Metallic:
