Our GT/CS 'slays' the Dragon

The Tail of the Dragon on the NC/TN border on July 12. US 129 has 318 curves in 11 miles. These are the professional photos taken by the photographers that line the route.
You can click on the photos a few times to enlarge if you like.

How were the Cops. I heard they can be nice one day and passing out tickets the next just for touching the yellow line.

Very few during the week. That's the time to go. We saw just one last Friday and other times we have seen none whatsoever.
On the weekends they are quite active, but mostly for the idiots driving on the 'other side' of the yellow, not just touching it. We have gone many, many times since we live so close (just two hours away) and we have never been hassled. We also drive within reason, certainly with some fun and fast spirited driving with rubber squealing, but not being 'out of control'. There are far too many bikers and car owners that think they know how to drive unfortunately. Law enforcement has to be there or it would be insane. They have enough injuries and fatalities as it is. Some of the turns are so tight it is hard to fathom. You get the idea in the first picture if you enlarge it a few times. Not only tight but you can see the dips as well. It's like a roller coaster in your own car. We have no idea how some of the motorcyclists stay upright. They are extremely skilled and at very high speeds. They blow your doors off while sideways!

I like this picture at the beginning, on the NC side by Deal's Gap. Someone built quite a sculpture.
