Invisicord (Detector to mirror power tap) question

UPDATED: 4/30/2012

Received my Invisicords in the mail today. Thanks to you guys and this forum, I completed the install on Marilyn and Tori within 10 minutes. For the 5.0, blue is 12v and black/yellow is ground. Shove the pins from the invisicord in, and voila.

Now it's nice and tucked up and away from the center of the windshield. Easiest mod ever. LOL. Thank you again to everyone on this forum who contributed. You guys rock. Hopefully this helps others that were looking to do this as well.

Folks... I have an Escort 9500ix (LOVE THAT THING)...did a search and saw 3 hits on this, but I just wanted to confirm the location of the 12V pin and the ground pin on our mirrors? I have Sync, but no camera.

When looking at the back of the mirror connector (tab on top):

12V pin/wire is the blue wire in the up-left most correct?

Ground is the black wire in the right most?

thank you.

I ordered 2 invisicords, and want to get rid of my power cord on my 9500ix.

I'm in the same boat, not sure which pins are correct. I'm going to start testing them one by one.

I used a smart cord with the remote mute, so mine is wired into the passenger footwell

I've been thinking about investing in one as well. Looking forward to hearing your results.

I have picture on this some where... I've done this and had wired the V1 in to the mirror. It's a green and white one and the black. I'll search again. I have this done in my truck at the moment.

Edit, If I do not have an answer in the amount of time you want, Pull the plug from the back of the mirror, turn key to the on position and take a volt meter and test them. If you don't have a volt meter, you can plug the ground into the black wire, and then test for the power source. I know it was the top corner, but I do not remember which side.

Wiring diagram I looked at says blue is hot at all times, and black is ground. I would pull connector and test, before I decided to cut into it.

This is the wiring in my truck, I have a back up camera in the truck.

My power comes from a Green and purple, and my ground is black.
I don't have pictures of the mustang wiring. Sorry. It is the top left for power.

Thank you sir. But I don't have to "cut" into anything, at least I don't think so. The instructions for the invisicord should just be a plug/tap right into the connector right? So looks like blue is power for sure, but I know that diagram shows two blue wires with one of them for the audio... Wish me luck lol.

My cord comes in tomorrow I hope...will update thread then.

Do you do a lot of speeding to need a detector?

Thanks for the update Burton! This is on my to-do list. My Cobra is getting out of date.

Thx adrenalin. Keep him in line. He does this routinely to EVERYONE'S threads. It gets old.

Anytime John! I highly recommend the invisicord. Cheap effective and shipped fast. And as you can see, very easy to install.

Btw, get rid of that cobra. It has about 1/3 the range and effectiveness of the escort or v1. I had one, I know. It sucked. There's a reason v1 s and escorts cost 400-500 bucks. It really works.

Looks good. I have a 9500 also. My question is how long does your mount stay connected to windshield? I bought the larger one from Escort and it works a little better but still falls down occasionally. Is it still possible to attach to sun visor?

Countryjoycrafts.com has the best mounts ever and they never fall off.

Check them out.

You have both the stock mounts from escort and they're falling off? No issue for me, and one of my mounts is from my old 8500 and that's almost 10 yrs old. My suggestion is to clean your windshield very well. Then clean your suction cups really well, then ensure a good secure fit. Mine NEVER falls.
