Finally got my MUSTANG trunk letters, and I want to see how you guys spaced them out, so please post your pictures, along with spacing specs.

Anyone? Buehler? I tried the search, but since attachments aren't working, it wasn't much help.

Tony, this is a Cervini's ducktail. Now keep in mind this was their first run, unsure if there was a design change or just a part number change. The letter came from www.badgeyourride.com The lettering is factory OEM quality and ready for installation, 3M tape.

Thanks for the replies so far. Hopefully I can get some spacing numbers this weekend to get mine put on. I want to be happy with how they're spaced, so the more reference photos, the better.

There is a pic of my rear here...

http://www.ymrforums.com/vbgarage.ph...253&garage=512

As to measurements, using the T as center, I placed mine exactly 14" from center to outside edge of both the M and the G. Once they are set, then measure the distance between center of each and divided by a third for center of the US and AN. The MOST IMPORTANT THING is to use masking tape (or something) to get spacing from bottom of trunk lid so they come out in a straight line. Take the time to really make sure the baseline is correct since they are difficult to move once placed, and look like crap if not straight (IMO)

Good Luck and post pics of results!

I bought my letters from the "Mustang Parts Warehouse".

http://www.mustangpartshouse.com/products.php?scid=96

1965-72 'MUSTANG' letter set stick on
Part No.EMB-21
Ford No.C5ZZ-6540282-S

They were easy to apply. I just attached a piece of masking tape the full length of the trunk lid. I placed one edge of the tape where I wanted the bottom of the letters to be. I then measured the width of the trunk and marked a line on the tape at the exact center of the trunk lid.

I attached the "T" directly above the center mark. I then measured an even amount for each of the other letters and placed a corresponding mark on the masking tape. My letters are space about 6.75" center-to-center.

Some people have spaced them so that all of the letters fit between the tail lights but I prefer the wider spacing as shown below.

Mark

No problem. It's way to cold to be out in the garage today. I am heading out to Farm and Fleet to buy a garage heater, though. But I don't think I'm up to it today.

Here is take one and two of mine. I originally had them spaced with a 3" gap, but when the guys at the car wash decided to rip the T off and put a 2.5" gouge in the trunk, I redid them with a 4" gap after having the trunk repainted. The site will not let me upload the pictures, so I will have to try later

Well it finally let me up load the pics. The first one is version one with a three inch gap The next is version two with a 4 inch gap. Personally I like the 4 inch gap better. The letters are the Scott Drake 65-73 Stick on ones. I got them from National Parts Depot they were around $15.00 for the set. I applied them like most everyone else did. Use masking tape to get your bottom gap then center your T and measure from it out for next letters, then measure from those for the next ones and so on and so on.

Thanks for the info! Now that I see the view from further back, I can definitely tell it is Cervini's spoiler. I should have clarified my question regarding adhesion. Are your stripes painted and the letters secured with the 3M tape directly on them?

Appreciate your help!

Thanks Bee Bop. I think 4" is about perfect. That's what I'm going with.
