No advice on the car, but a question - is there a left/right hand drive conversion, or will you be driving in the wrong lane on the correct side of the car?

Welcome from Germany. Had an '05 GT for a while and never had issues with it.

Welcome to TMS.

Firstly, there's a great UK S197 (2005 onwards) website www.s197.co.uk

As far as the car itself is concerned, there are no real problems with them, mechanically. 2007 and older cars do suffer from corrosion on the hood, which was a reaction to the alloys. Looks ugly, and a full respray is often the only answer.

The biggest problem for UK-based S197s is the lighting conversion to meet/pass the IVA test. Ensure the car you're buying has been converted by a reputable company (you can PM me for details). If the re-wire is a mess, it can fry the SJB (Smart Junction Box) the control module for many of the electrical circuits. A new one, plus re-wire, can be the wrong side of £1k.

Other than that, just buy on condition and carry out the normal second hand car checks.

Oh, and the engine size is 4.6 litres up to the 2011 model year, when it then gained the new Coyote 5.0 engine.

Where in the UK are you based?

Oh, and avoid RHD conversions. There are a couple of good ones that I know of, but also some horrors. LHD in the UK is not a problem and you get used to it pretty quickly.

Around town = mid teens
On a cruise = low to mid twenties
Pedal to the metal = not much

Don't forget, the consumption on the OBC is in US gallons, so add a few to turn it into Imperial gallons
