Aquariums Anyone?

So lets see them! Fresh or Saltwater it doesn't matter. I know we have to have a few members with some cool aquariums. Would love to see them. I am about to get my first fresh water aquarium up and running tomorrow.

I have a 29 gallon salt tank in need of a good cleaning! One lonely fish in it... A convict blenny.

I had a striped Danio that was the toughest fish ever. Kept him as a feeder fish in a tank with hungry turtles, I dropped him on the ground, rescued him from the cat,.... and he lived for years.

I drove through Canada and forgot to take his carrier into the hotel one night. I came out the next day to a block of ice. Sadly, I was positive that my little striper was finally dead.

Nope. I thawed the block of ice out and he came right back.

I gave him away when I left for grad school. Sure he's still alive now. My Chuck Norris fish.

Yes. Here's our three girls.

It's amazing how tame they become when you feed them regularly.

All of them are full grown and mature btw.

sadly im down to 1 30g tank which has been neglected a bit.. but im in the process of getting it cleaned up. Can take up a lot of time and energy to keep them going. The 90g got to a point where i was monitoring water params. daily to ensure everthing was level. When it comes to coral, a week of neglect and many would have died off.

I give you a couple months before you want to switch to saltwater. I was the same way lol. The colors and things you can buy for a saltwater tank are just way better than a freshwater tank lol but than again there is also a ton of things you have to learn when it comes to SW.

also a tip, dont buy any sort of Oscar...they never stop eating and will outgrow that tank in a rather short period of time... and will eat anything smaller than itself.

also do a water change every other week. If your not familiar with that means... it means take 10% of your water volume out and replace it with good water. Usually the more the better. FW is easy... Also don't use tap water. You want to use distilled water. or Water from a reverse osmosis unit. Tap water has a lot of bad things in it for fish. IE Chlorine.
