don't want to get into a long story but to keep it simple... are their any MIL Eliminators or our s197's.

The tune blocks it but I want it to actually trick it for inspection.

Does the defouler trick actually work? I have never heard of it and it seems way to simple of a job to actually trick the computer into a false reading. If it does work that would be great but i am not a total believer. But for as cheap as it would be to try it i guess it would be worth it.

 

I got mine almost 3 years ago now. They might have stopped carrying them.

They prolbaly dont carry them anymore due to the fact that people pass emissions with illegal cars as long as they are running the eliminators.

 

True but im surprised because not all states have emissions

 

MIL (Malfunction Indicator Light) eliminators only trick the computer to thinking the exhaust is functioning properly per the reading on that sensor. Emissions tests will result otherwise, and they'll be able to smell the difference.

 

Yes plenty of people including me, an o2 sensor is an o2 sensor no matter what car it's in they do the same job. You just have to modify one of the non foulers so the sensor fits through.

 

Im not worried about visual or smell I have a mechanic in the family that can do it it just need to be read on the computer as ok .. that's all I care about... it sounds like I can't get this done and im going to be screwed and avoiding a ticket in a loud orange mustang ain't going to work ... if I knew the race rune from bans was causing the issue before I put the pipe on I would of switched the tune to a street tune got the inspection then did the pipe

 

What is happening when the plug goes into the non fouler? I would assume tat if the face of the plug is still exposed then it woukd get the same reading no matter what it was inside of. I have been wrong before and i probaly am now but i am looking for some kind of explination as to how this works.

 

Not sure on the science of it but it's been done for quite a while and it works, I would assume the o2 sensor gets much less of a "whiff" of the exhaust.

it works by not having the whole sensor exposed to direct exhaust flow.
I used them on my 05 350z, havent changed my exhaust on my stang yet since there is little gain for N/A.
Just find the part number(s) and order them online from autozone.
Find what thread our o2 sensors use (18mm?), check clearance, see if you need 2 per sensor or if 1 is long enough.
Install with a little antiseize and rock on.

 

My hi-flow cats were triggering my CEL a few months ago so i tried the spark plug non-fouler trick with one per sensor and it only worked for a couple of hundred miles before setting the CEL off again. I just picked up another set to see if putting the sensors a little farther out of the flow will help.

 

After several hundred miles no CEL.......these can be picked up at Autozone or similar establishment.
