Vaughn Gittin Jr. knows his way around Mustangs. It hasn’t always been in the Monster Nitto RTR Ford, but he’s been in a variation of the pony car for more than 10 years now. We’ve seen the smoke, we’ve seen the spinning rubber, and we’ve seen dozens of graphics, but this new video is the first time we’ve seen an up-close and personal view under the hood WHILE he is actually drifting.

Here’s a little reminder what you’re lookin’ at: the new-gen drifter has a 436-cubic-inch 7.1-liter Ford Performance/Roush Yates Racing V8 engine that makes more than 900 horsepower and revs at more than 9,000 RPMs, while gulping VP Racing Fuels C85. It uses an aluminum block with aluminum D heads to help keep weight down. The setup includes fuel-injection with individual throttle body injection, K&N air filters, and Pennzoil Platinum oil.

Thanks to that, and a variety of other options, the RTR weighs less than 3,000 pounds. And it sits on Nitto NT05 tires for optimal sideways action. This footage comes from the team’s sessions at Round 2 of Formula Drift in Atlanta. Check it out.
