Drag Racers Rejoice! Ford to Offer Body-in-White 2015 Mustang with Solid Rear Axle

Earlier rumors that the Mustang might bow out of drag racing with the 2015 model have been laid to rest with news that a solid rear axle will be offered on the car. Gotta love how this sixth-gen just keeps getting better.

Reports of the live axle comes directly from at Mustangs Daily report. According to them, a Ford Racing rep broke the news at the recent Performance Racing Industry (PRI) Show in Indianapolis, IN.

The drag strip version is expected to debut at the 2014 PRI show as a 2015 Mustang “body in white” with a 9-inch SRA replacing the independent rear, according to Mustangs Daily.  In addition, it almost seems certain that the 2015 Mustang Cobra Jet will be offered with the same live axle set-up, notes the report.

For Mustang drag racing fanatics, it doesn’t get any better than this.
