You Don't Have to Turn a Single Wrench to Get This Mustang Show Car

This 2015 Ford Mustang GT was a 2016 SEMA show car and now it can be yours.

There are a lot of show cars out there. They shine, they gleam, you look, and you leave. Most of them you never see again, except in memories. It doesn’t have to be that way with this Mustang. Someone’s already made it a SEMA-quality show car. Now you have the opportunity to make it yours.

The current (only) owner started with a 6-speed 2015 Mustang GT Premium with the Performance Package…then pumped a whole bunch of money into and parts onto it. According to the seller, the widebody kit on this S550 is one of only three made. The hood rocks an aggressive scoop, which sits above a pronounced front splitter. They replaced the stock suspension with an air setup, then dropped the car low on 20-inch wheels wrapped in Toyo R888 tires, 285/35/20 front and 315/30/20 rear. Those wheels were made by Blaque Diamond, which is the company this one-off was created for in the first place. If you went to the 2016 SEMA show, you would’ve seen this modded Mustang at the Blaque Diamond Wheels booth.

Fortunately, there’s just as much go in this car as there is show. That 5.0 up front is connected to a Whipple supercharger and breathes through a full Corsa exhaust system. On 91-octane pump gas, this ‘Stang with stance lets 614 horses spin the back wheels.

Whoever is selling this car clearly spent more time customizing it than driving it because it only has 6,100 miles on it. If you want to put some higher numbers on this Mustang’s odometer, it’s going to cost you $62,500 to do it. That’s not cheap, but neither is the “well over 80k” that the current owner put into it.

Derek Shiekhi's father raised him on cars. As a boy, Derek accompanied his dad as he bought classics such as post-WWII GM trucks and early Ford Mustang convertibles.

After loving cars for years and getting a bachelor's degree in Business Management, Derek decided to get an associate degree in journalism. His networking put him in contact with the editor of the Austin-American Statesman newspaper, who hired him to write freelance about automotive culture and events in Austin, Texas in 2013. One particular story led to him getting a certificate for learning the foundations of road racing.

While watching TV with his parents one fateful evening, he saw a commercial that changed his life. In it, Jeep touted the Wrangler as the Texas Auto Writers Association's "SUV of Texas." Derek knew he had to join the organization if he was going to advance as an automotive writer. He joined the Texas Auto Writers Association (TAWA) in 2014 and was fortunate to meet several nice people who connected him to the representatives of several automakers and the people who could give him access to press vehicles (the first one he ever got the keys to was a Lexus LX 570). He's now a regular at TAWA's two main events: the Texas Auto Roundup in the spring and the Texas Truck Rodeo in the fall.

Over the past several years, Derek has learned how to drive off-road in various four-wheel-drive SUVs (he even camped out for two nights in a Land Rover), and driven around various tracks in hot hatches, muscle cars, and exotics. Several of his pieces, including his article about the 2015 Ford F-150 being crowned TAWA's 2014 "Truck of Texas" and his review of the Alfa Romeo 4C Spider, have won awards in TAWA's annual Excellence in Craft Competition. Last year, his JK Forum profile of Wagonmaster, a business that restores Jeep Wagoneers, won prizes in TAWA’s signature writing contest and its pickup- and SUV-focused Texas Truck Invitational.

In addition to writing for a variety of Internet Brands sites, including JK Forum, H-D Forums, The Mustang Source, Mustang Forums, LS1Tech, HondaTech, Jaguar Forums, YotaTech, and Ford Truck Enthusiasts. Derek also started There Will Be Cars on Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube.
