After driving 13,000 miles from South Carolina to Alaska and back in her 1965 Mustang, Barber knows a thing or two about road trips!

What’s the coolest thing you’ve ever done with your Ford Mustang (not in your Mustang)? Taken it to the drag strip, a car show, or maybe just cruising down the coast with the top down? Whatever the answer may be, it’s true that cars are meant to be experienced, not just stored — especially one like the iconic Pony Car.

Courtney Barber and her 1965 Mustang

Courtney Barber, aka “Mustang Girl” gets that, and she recently shared her Mustang story with the good folks at Ford Performance. They found it to be so captivating (and so did we), that they featured Barber in their monthly “Ford Fan Spotlight” in the Ford Performance e-newsletter.

According to the video, Barber spotted her 1965 Mustang on Kansas-area Craigslist. Despite her home being in South Carolina, she flew one-way to meet her baby for the first time, and the rest is history. Shortly thereafter she enrolled for the yearly “Rally North America,” which had organized a “lap” of Alaska to celebrate a club milestone.

Claiming that she hates to fly, Barber decided to drive her Mustang from South Carolina all the way to Alaska! She goes on to say that some moments were pretty miserable at the time, but now she feels it’s one of her greatest accomplishments. Heck, as much as we at The Mustang Source like road trips, we’re not sure how we feel about 13,000 miles in 30 days at the wheel of a vintage Pony Car. But, judging by these photos published by Ford Performance, the journey looks incredible!

Needless to say, Courtney Barber has earned our respect (and then some), and we encourage you to check out her story!
