A pre-production 1964 Mustang will headline a showcase of classic Ford pony cars at the Carlisle Ford Nationals to help ring in the 50th Anniversary of the iconic automobile.

The event, which kicks off June 6 and runs through June 6 in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, will also feature several other classic Mustangs including a 1968 “Branded Special” Mustang and a 1968 “Going Thing” Mustang (pictured), according to a Motor Authority report.

The celebration is also expected to include a 1969 Ford Mustang 4.1 Litre Special, 1979 Ford Mustang Indy Pace Car, 1993 Ford Mustang SSP Police Package, 1985 Ford Mustang Twister II Special, 1969 Ford Mustang Shelby De Mexico and a 1968 Ford Mustang California Special,

The ’64 pre-production car, however, is one of the most coveted.  According to Motor Authority, Ford only made between 150 and 180 units of the pre-production Mustang to help generate a buzz for the car prior to shipping it to dealerships.

Apparently, most of the units were either destroyed, housed at museums or converted into race cars. However, the one at Carlisle Ford Nationals is still in its original production state.
