Classic Mustangs Beat Camaros as Most Searched Cars

Chevy pony car comes in a distant third for most searched vehicle online.

If you own a vintage Mustang, you’ll likely revel in this bit of news.

According to a recent report by The Weekly Driver, of all the classic automobiles searched on line, the Ford pony car ranks as the most Googled of them all.

Well, we actually added the whole “Google” bit, which might be a bit misleading considering that the search engine isn’t the only one used when looking up things on the internet. But one thing seems perfectly clear – when it comes to looking up vintage cars online, nothing tops the Mustang.

In fact, the car industry news source reports that the Mustang generated 3,736,942 unique searches in 2016. That pushed Ford to the top of the heap as the nameplate most searched when it comes to classic cars. Chevrolet came in second on the list, according to the report.

Apparently, one of the measures used to collect the search data consists of a state-by-state analysis. The study found that the Mustang ranked as the most searched in 13 states, with the Chevrolet Impala ranking as the most searched in 7 states. The Chevy Camaro came in third on the list, as the most searched vintage vehicle in five states. Rounding off the list was the Dodge Charger, the most searched car in three states. And the Ford Thunderbird was one of the most searched vehicles in three states, as well.

We have to say, the Impala’s ranking over the Camaro caught us a bit off-guard. But it’s something that we’re sure Mustang fans will revel in as yet more fuel in the never-ending debate over which car is better.
