Award-winning 1966 Mustang packs a 408 cubic-inch Windsor V8 under its all-chrome 8-71 blower.
Nothing gallops down the road harder, faster, or better than a Mustang. Whether it’s a Boss 429, a Bullitt, an EcoBoost, or a Cobra, a Mustang is more than capable of making its spirit known wherever it goes.
The other day, we were going through the catalog of Barrett-Jackson’s upcoming auction in Scottsdale, Arizona January 12 through 20, 2019, when we happened upon this custom 1966 fastback. Needless to say, this Mustang merits your attention.

“No expense was spared on this custom Stang’s build,” goes the description of this Lunar Gray over Cardinal Red ’66 fastback. The award-winning custom turns heads wherever it goes, snagging trophies wherever it shows.

Part of the Stang’s show-stopping ability comes from the chromed-out 408 cu-in Windsor V8 with aluminum heads and a big 8-71 blower on top. The Windsor is connected to an AOD-E/4R70w four-speed auto, which carries the immense firepower to the fat Mickey Thompsons connected to the narrowed Ford 9-inch rear.

Inside, the Mustang’s red interior includes bolstered leather seats with white stitching, a custom gauge cluster, leather headliner, and interior LED lighting. The outside, meanwhile, is all metal, from the doors molded into the A-pillar, to the boxed hood and grill opening.

We can only imagine hearing this Mustang roar at full gallop down the quarter-mile. We can also hope that its new owner gives it the freedom to do so.
