The Speed Family Meets the 2018 Ford Mustang GT

By -

When you want to show off the latest pony car, who do you turn to? A family that literally has the last name Speed.

The only thing more awesome than being known as “The Mustang Brothers” is literally being “The Speed Brothers”. This family of six, four brothers and two sisters, has eight Mustangs between them. Daniel has a ’69 Mach 1, Chester has a ’71 Mach 1, ’70 Mach 1, and ’70 428 SCJ, Lawrence has a ’69 Mach 1, Lucille has a ’71 Mach 1, Leon has a ’73 Convertible, and Jackie has a ’94 Mustang GT. Even the newer one tells you she’s a die-hard Mustang fan: it’s a 5.0.

Now, it might seem natural that the Speed family would be into Mustangs, but they do have a source of inspiration. Their dad, a trucker who drove Fords, brought home a 1965 Mustang one day. That was enough to hook them on Mustangs. Ford apparently found out about the Speeds and decided that they would be the perfect family for a little test drive fun. And man, do they look like they’re having fun! Not a single one is putting around or acting when the cameras are rolling. Daniel proclaims “It feels like Christmas!” While Lucille captures our thoughts with “This feels sensational! I could get used to this….”

CHECK OUT: What the Forum Has to Say About the 2018 Mustang GT

The 2018 Mustang GT packs a revised third-generation Coyote 5.0L V-8 that makes 460 hp and 420 lb-ft of torque, and here it’s paired with a six-speed manual. We hear the available 10-speed automatic is also quite good. That and a possible sub-four-second 0-60 mph time with the automatic, so there’s no downside that we can see.  If 460 hp from a 5.0L V-8 doesn’t make you grin like the Speed family, we don’t know what will, maybe head on over to Toyota.

What Mustang got you into Mustangs? Were you fortunate enough to have a great father, or mother, who showed you the way? Let us know in the comments below, or head over to the forums.
