Get your hands on your hips and pocketbooks fully-loaded for this authentic one-owner 1971 Ford Mustang Mach 1 M-Code, cause you don’t want to miss out. The Northwest U.S. is known for its mild weather, which extends the lives of cars, and helps classics reach their full potential. The fellow who owned this Mach 1 obviously babied it, as these pictures show. Lucky Classic Auctions near LeMay Car Museum in Washington state is hosting their epic auction this month, and you’ll have the chance to bid by phone or online for this rare specimen of Mustang, featuring the M-Code engine.

During Ford’s production run, this generation Mustang only had 8% of 351 Cleveland engines configured as a 4V combustion chamber, which featured a higher compression ratio and greater airflow through the larger ports and larger valves. The other 92% got the lower compression 2V for mass production into the Ford fleet of four-doors. All special 4V 351C M-Code Mustangs were equipped with the C-6 auto gearbox and a B&M shifter to handle its muscle.

We could spend all day walking around this Mustang Mach 1 M-code, which was built in October 1970. The one owner took delivery new, and has had it ever since. It’s been garaged, and Lucky says it’s only been driven in dry weather, which is quite the feat in the Pacific Northwest.

With independent suspension up front and a solid axle powering the back, this performance car provides classic fun with OEM tech. That’s another beautiful thing about this specific model: the body looks straight, and it hasn’t been raced, except for maybe a little on Interstate 90. Look at the pictures, and you’ll see it’s as factory-new-looking as you can get. A rare chance at a rare car here.
