Nurburgring Lifts Speed Limits: Your Move Ford GT350R

Several months ago, the Nurburgring Nordschleife put up speed limits throughout the infamous Green Hell circuit. This was after a tragic accident, which saw a GT3 car go over the catch fence and into the crowd, killing a spectator. Now, after months of deliberation, and an announcement that the FIA has approved the track safety plans put forth by owners, the 12.9-mile circuit will resume racing and the speed limits removed.

This, for all those lovers of speed and noise, is good news. It’s also good news for all those sportscars and supercars that have come out during the time where speeds limits were imposed. Chief among those, the Ford Mustang GT350R.

We’ve seen the GT350R testing at the ‘Ring, but we’ve never been privy to what sort of time it is truly capable of hitting around the infamous track. With the speed limits lifted, we’re hopeful that Ford, and the rest of the industry, will once again resume track testing and setting preposterous lap times. Finger crossed that the GT350R can beat the Z/28.
