There’s a GT350R Coming
When I first saw the new GT350 Mustang, I was a bit disappointed. I was alone in that, but it didn’t feel enough like a racecar and definitely didn’t feel enough like the original. Now I know why Ford compromised more than I would have liked. It’s because the GT350 that was just unveiled in L.A. last week was only the road-going version. There’s a hard-core track version dubbed the GT350R coming out very soon.
According to Road & Track, the GT350R will debut in Detroit this January. It will feature better brakes, more aero, a set of stickier tires, and much, much more. This would also help rectify the issue of some of the parts that were missing on the show car that we saw on the car running around the Nürburgring this summer: things like carbon brakes.
Hopefully this rumor proves to be true because I just wasn’t impressed by the GT350. But then again, I’m a very specific part of the population that would daily a racecar and not have a care in the world. Most of the buying public, though, will undoubtedly love the new car. I just hope it will live up to the name.
Stay tuned: there will definitely be more information coming out as we draw closer to the Detroit show.
