‘65 Mustang Racer Fetches $90,000-plus in Paris
Despite the history wrapped up in the car and its vintage racing look, the coupe crossed a recent RM auction block in Paris for $91,400.
Rebuilt by Rae Davis Racing, an English company known for rebuilding historic racing cars to FIA standards, the racecar is one of few FIA certified Mustangs in Europe, according to a report by RM Auctions.
The Mustang 289’s first track run after being restored was at the Goodwill Festival in 2013 with former Formula 1 driver Rupert Keegan at the wheel.
Other features include a deep-dish racing wheel with a Stack racing rev counter and Racetech water temperature and oil pressure gauges.
The Mustang’s exterior is finished in classic Ford France colors, which really cements its vintage appeal.
