2023 Roush Trakpak Mustang Debuts as Purposeful Track Machine
A very different kind of build, the 2023 Roush TrakPak Mustang trades all-out power for on-track prowess.
Roush has been building and selling special versions of the Ford Mustang for more than a quarter-century now, and the tuner continues to perfect its craft with each passing generation. We’re on the verge of saying goodby to the S550 Mustang and saying hello to the new S650, but in the meantime, a number of companies are releasing special farewell models to pay tribute to the current car, and that list now also includes this – the 2023 Roush TrakPak Mustang, a more track-focused version of the long-running pony car.
As is usually the case, the 2023 Roush TrakPak Mustang features an array of both performance and visual upgrades, which start up front with a Roush grille and “R” badge, a lower front chin spoiler, high-flow corner pockets, hood and fender-based heat extractors, and a Roush windshield banner. Moving down the side, we can see Roush puddle lamps and fender blades, while out back, the TrakPak is fitted with aero foils, a Roush spoiler, and a Roush blackout panel.
Inside the cabin, Roush gives this particular build black leather seats, a serialized dash plaque, and a host of Roush branding including the floor mats, door sills, shift ball (for manual models), and gauge overlay. From there, it’s all about all-out performance, however, as the 2023 Roush TrakPak Mustang features a re-calibrated MagneRide suspension with lowering springs, as well as 20-inch Roush wheels wrapped with Continental ExtremeContact tires.
Pop the hood, and you’ll find a familiar sight – Ford’s 5.0-liter Coyote V8, which has been enhanced with a performance exhaust, as well as a special cooling package that consists of dual auxiliary engine cooling modules, a performance oil cooler, a transmission cooler (for automatics), and an active rear differential cooling system. Customers can choose from the six-speed manual or 10-speed automatic gearbox, while forged wheels and premium brown leather seats are available as optional upgrades.
The price for all this goodness starts out at $20,500 plus the cost of the vehicle itself, but for those that plan on spending some serious time at the track, the 2023 Roush TrakPak Mustang is a pretty compelling package that’s also one of few that’s focused squarely on track-based endeavors.
