2020 Mustang Shelby GT500 Hits the Track at 2019 Shelby Bash

By -

Even at low speeds, the new Shelby GT500 sounds absolutely vicious.

By now, you’ve heard and seen just about everything there is to know about the amazing new 2020 Mustang Shelby GT500. Well, except concrete numbers, that is, which we’re still impatiently waiting for. But we can rest comfortably at night knowing that the new GT500 will be the most powerful production Mustang ever. And now, thanks to this video from YouTuber Speed Phenom, we can also now watch it in action on the track for the very first time.

It all went down at this year’s Shelby Bash, which was the perfect venue to serenade our ears with the sweet sounds of the Shelby’s heavily supercharged heart. Ford brought out a loaded Twister Orange GT500 with the track pack for this special occasion, and what a treat it is. This thing sounds absolutely sinister at idle, and even more menacing as the driver blips the throttle.

In all fairness, Ford wasn’t about to really wring this thing out for the crowd. And hey, we get it. This was more of a symbolic gesture, which is evident when the GT500 leads Shelby’s parade lap. This is more about getting the brand new car out in front of the folks who are more likely to buy it. And trust us, after watching this, we’re even more tempted to add one to our stable.

The Ford rep in the video stops short multiple times of confirming any sort of numbers, of course. But interestingly, the info sign by the GT500 lists horsepower at “700++” this time. The rep confirms that power won’t be in the single digits above 700, but that’s about it. So for now, we’ll just have to wait and see. But judging by how awesome this thing sounds even with a little throttle, you can bet pegging the redline will be music to our ears!
