2018 Ford Mustang GT: Here’s How it Drives

What’s new and different about the 2018 Mustang?

In this new video from Motor1, Jake Holmes gets behind the wheel of the redesigned 2018 Mustang GT with a 10-speed automatic transmission. There’s more power on tap, way more gears in the autobox, and tons of little improvements made basically everywhere.

The instrument cluster is now fully digital, which is just plain cool. From the drop of the hammer, we can tell that the 5.0 liter V8 still sounds as great as it always has. The biggest news here could be its sub-4-second 0-60 time with the automatic, which sounds like a lot of fun to us. It’s probably safe to say that the icon is back and better than ever.

Interestingly, even though he’s driving the 10-speed V8 car, Jake says if he was to order a new Mustang, he’d pick the 2.3 EcoBoost model with a 6-speed stick and the performance package suspension. Somehow we don’t really blame him for that; we absolutely love the EcoBoost car.

The current Mustang is already a gem, but we really look forward to getting behind the wheel of an ’18 model soon. Are you placing an order with your Ford dealer? If so, which engine and transmission combination are you opting for? Let us know in the comments below.

Stick around for the full video, because Jake takes the GT through a tunnel, which just helps to amplify the roar of the engine with its exhaust baffles open. If you had a new Mustang GT with “quiet mode,” why would you ever use it?
