2015 Roush Mustang Debuts … Sort Of
I’ve never been a big fan of the Roush or Saleen Mustang variants. They usually don’t have the sophistication that the Shelbys or SVTs have. The seats are usually just reupholstered stock seats with eye gouging color schemes and side exhausts that look really shady. They also have too much horsepower and not enough grip to use it all correctly. Their only redeeming factor is that they are loud and quick in a straight line, both of which are fun, but both get old really quickly.
In comes the newest Mustang. The new ‘Stang has a bunch of new features that make a great base. Sport seats, IRS, a wonderful motor and less weight. All things that make for a great starting platform for both Roush and Saleen. We still don’t know what the cars will entail, but Roush wanted to be first on the block with their iteration. Sharing a very dark and ominous picture on their Facebook page today (that we have illuminated in post-processing), Roush began the fervor among Mustang loyalists. Indeed, it intrigues me. I really hope they solved the problems of the past and didn’t just decide to do exactly the same thing again.
Let’s also hope the sticker price isn’t as huge as it has been in recent years — almost $80k for a Mustang? Sorry, not going to happen — especially one with a $5,000 supercharger and some weird body kit. Roush, please don’t let me down.
