2012 ‘Wounded Warriors’ Mustang Sells for $500,000 at Barrett-Jackson

The red, white and blue Supersnake features the signatures of hundreds of people who supported the car’s cross-country tour to raise awareness and money for American military personnel wounded in Iraq or Afghanistan and their families.

All the money raised from the sale of the car, as reported by Fox Sports, will go to support Wounded Warriors Family Support initiatives as part of the third annual High Five Tour to raise money for American troops and their loved ones.

The 2012 Wounded Warriors Mustang was reportedly sold to collector Don Damon, who won $96.6 million Powerball jackpot back in the fall of 2009.

The car’s predecessor, a 2011 Mustang, generated a million dollars for Wounded Warriors Family Support at the Barrett-Jackson auction last year at Palm Beach, Fla. where it was sold and then-re-donated so it could be sold a second time to raise more money, as noted in a Barrett-Jackson press release.

This year’s Wounded Warriors auction included a special “Salute to the Military” with more than 70 active-duty personnel and their families from Nellis Air Force Base and a special performance by country music star Clay Walker.
