Restomod Rebirth of a Classic

The 1967-68 Mustang models often get overshadowed by their fastback siblings, but Velocity is shifting the spotlight with a restomod package for the convertible versions. Known for their high-quality updates on classic vehicles, Velocity has now extended their expertise to the less celebrated but equally deserving Mustang convertibles. This new package aims to blend the timeless appeal of these vintage cars with contemporary performance and comfort.

Modern Muscle Under the Hood

At the heart of Velocity's restomod Mustang is a modern 5.0-liter Coyote V8 engine, delivering an impressive 460 horsepower and 420 lb-ft of torque. This powerplant, borrowed from the latest Ford Mustangs, ensures that the classic convertible has plenty of muscle.

Choice of Transmission

Buyers can choose between a T56 six-speed manual transmission or a 10-speed automatic, both sending power to the nine-inch rear axle. Custom headers and Borla mufflers enhance the auditory experience, providing a throaty roar that matches the car's aggressive performance.

Enhanced Handling and Braking

Velocity has equipped the restomod Mustang with a brand-new Roadster Shop Mustang SPEC chassis, designed to offer modern handling characteristics. This chassis includes rack-and-pinion steering, a four-link rear axle with adjustable Fox coilovers, and Baer four-piston calipers with 11-inch discs. The brakes also feature a Bosch Electric iBooster, ensuring a new-car pedal feel. The 17-inch retro-style wheels, wrapped in Continental Extreme Contact Sport 02 tires, provide improved grip and stability, making this classic convertible feel anything but outdated.

Comfort Meets Nostalgia

Inside, Velocity has not compromised on comfort. The convertible top, available in brown, tan, black, or cream, is operated by new electric motors and hydraulics for easy use. The interior can be matched in color, with options for premium leather seating. The Procar bucket seats can be heated and ventilated, and a Dakota Digital gauge pack provides modern readouts while maintaining a classic look. The addition of Vintage Air climate control and a RetroSound head unit with modern connectivity ensures the cabin is as comfortable and functional as it is stylish.

Exterior Upgrades with Classic Flair

The restomod package includes several thoughtful upgrades that respect the car's heritage while adding modern touches. The optional Shelby-style racing stripes complement the vented hood with marker lights, designed to manage engine temperatures. The custom BASF Glasurit paint and chrome bumpers add a polished finish to the vehicle's aesthetic. These exterior modifications not only enhance the car's visual appeal but also improve its functionality.

The Cost of Admission

Such extensive modifications come at a price. Velocity's Signature Series fastback builds start at $299,900, with the convertible package adding an additional $30,000. This investment covers the 16-week process required to transform a classic 1967-68 Mustang convertible into a modern marvel.
