The 6 Mustangs That Could Be Muscle Car Art
Muscle cars are as American as apple pie, and they have inspired many artistic visions. Mustangs, themselves, ARE the art. When one reflects on the drawings of Mustang prototypes it is quite evident that the designers are, in fact, artists with a vision.
1. 1969 Boss 302 Mustang
The Boss 302 is genuinely a work of exquisite art. Created in mid-1968, the Boss 302 was given as an optional add-on for mid-1968 and 1969 Mustangs in an effort to compete with the newly released Chevy Camaro, and an epic rivalry began.
The hum of the engine, the feel of the steering wheel in your hands, you can envision that by merely looking at this beauty. That is art, plain and simple.
2. 1965 Ford Mustang Fastback
With over 77, 000 2+2 fastbacks sold in its first year, it's evident that this 1965 variation (of the three Mustangs released that year) was a welcomed success. The sleek lines are pleasing to the eye. It was this very car that gave birth to the Shelby Mustang, which came out the following year, and only in the fastback edition.
3. 1967 Shelby Mustang GT
With the popularity of the Corvette rising, Ford needed a solution. Carroll Shelby was that solution. He turned the Mustang into a street legal racer, and gave us one of the most beautiful cars known to man; the Shelby Mustang. By 1967, the Shelby Mustang had a GT option, only further improving upon greatness.
4. 1969 Boss 429 Mustang
Only 859 Boss 429s were released in 1969, making this sexy beast a collecter's item. With the release of the Camaro Z28 and Trans Am, Ford fired back with the Boss 302 and 429 options. Boss is the perfect name because these Mustangs control the roads.
5. 1964 Ford Mustang Convertible
Sleek, timeless, and a part of the iconic American 60's, the 64 Mustang was meant to break away from the traditional cars of the 50's. The Baby Boomers didn't want to drive the cars of their parents, and the Mustang was the answer to that.
6. 2016 Shelby Mustang GT
While nothing beats classic American muscle, a lot can be said for the newer model Shelby's. The performance one has come to expect from a Shelby with sleeker designs, upgraded tech, and the artistic beauty we have come to know and love.
As stated before, Mustangs ARE art, and what a magnificent spectacle they are.
