Mustang Mach-E GT Will Beat all Competitors to 62mph

With 459 hp and 612 lb-ft of torque on tap, it's hardly surprising the Mach-E GT gets to 62 mph in 3.7 seconds.

Quickest in Class

Ford has made a bold claim relating to its eagerly anticipated Mustang Mach-E GT electric SUV. The promise: it'll be the quickest model in its class. The Mach-E rolls out in the U.S. towards the end of 2020, but it won't hit European shores until late September 2021.

Ford Mustang Mach-E GT

The Mach-E GT pumps out 459 hp and 612 lb-ft of torque thanks to an electric motor on each axle. All of this power gives the Mach-E GT a 0-62 mph time of 3.7 seconds: potentially enough to outrun any current competition.

Jaguar I-Pace

Jaguar's I-Pace is already in production so there's no speculation - it won't beat the Mach-E to 62 mph. It's electric motor produces 394 hp and 516 lb-ft of torque. While these figures are impressive, the I-Pace gets to 62 mph in 4.8 seconds putting it over a second off the Mach-E's pace.

Polestar 2

The Polestar 2 launched this year in the U.K. It pumps out a not too shabby 402 hp and 487 lb-ft of torque but, like the I-Pace, it won't be enough to topple the Mach-E. The Polestar 2's digital speedometer will show 62 mph 4.7 seconds after putting your foot down.

Tesla Model Y

Tesla's Model Y is the only electric SUV that appears to be able to hold a candle to Ford's Mach-E. While the Long Range model gets to 62 mph in 5.5 seconds, the Dual Motor variant hits the same speed in just 4.8 seconds. So, it's 1.1 seconds off the Mach-E's time. However, Tesla also produces a Performance Model Y that gets to 62 mph in 3.5 seconds: the question is, will Ford have a Mach-E GT to match this in the near future? We'd put our money on yes.
