Evan Longoria's Eleanor Inspired Mach 1 Mustang
This 1971 Mach 1 Mustang has been modified, not only to look like a movie star, but to drive like one, too!
Alternate Eleanor
What you're seeing in these photos is a peek into an alternate universe, where the creators of the movie Gone In 60 Seconds decided to cast a '70s Mach 1 Mustang as Eleanor! Those Shelby-style tail lights don't lie! The restomod Mustang used to belong to MLS major league baseball star Evan Longoria. It was sold at a Barrett-Jackson auction last year.
Mach 1
The fact that the car was owned by the baseball player isn't even close to the most interesting thing about this Mach 1, however. As we know, the Mach1 was Ford's attempt to fill the void left by the absence of a Shelby Mustang at the time. And while these pony cars don't quite have the appeal of the original 1965-1969 models, they've developed a cult following of their own.

No Ordinary Restomod
The Mach 1 has been recognized by builders as a great platform to customize. And perhaps the fact that they're not as globally desirable as earlier Mustangs makes them more financially reasonable project car options. This particular Mustang, however, is no ordinary project car. In fact, it's far from an ordinary Mustang restomod.

Supercharged 8.8-Liter V8
Aside from what meets the eye on the outside, it's what's under the skin that makes this build special. Some folks will take exception to the fact that this Ford is powered by a GM mill. But hear us out. Popping the hood of this Eleanor look-alike will reveal a supercharged Chevy 502 ci big-block V8 that is capable of producing a whopping 725 horses.

More Performance
The Chevy theme continues with the transmission. A 6-speed manual from a Corvette delivers the power to the Ford 9-inch Detroit Locker differential at the rear axle. The car is built on a custom Art Morrison chassis. And helping keep up the power is a coilover four-link rear suspension set up at the rear and a Mustang II setup at the front.

Custom Interior
A 10-point roll-cage is in place, guarding the custom interior. From the racing bucket seats, the custom steering wheel, and the custom AutoMeter dash, all the way to the sound system, everything inside this cabin has been modified and upgraded. And lastly, the six-piston Baer brakes take care of deceleration duties. And we hope this beauty is being driven and enjoyed by its new owners the way it is meant to.
