Gonna be looking at a '07 GT CS black coupe with shaker hood in a few days. It has 30k miles and 5-speed manual. Seller pics are terrible, otherwise I would post here, but it seems well maintained. He says it has not been driven on salty roads in winter.

Is there extra value added because the car is CS?

Also, the seller installed a Procharger a few years ago. It's the smaller one, with boost set low and 'only' making 400 rwhp (dyno'd at local shop, I confirmed the rwhp numbers are accurate). Does this add value, or does it actually hurt value?

Sounds like it's about $5K too high. The CS package is just an appearance package. It's still a GT Premium.

Is that the supercharger that you WANT? Will you be happy with it long-term? If not, then his mods add zero value to the car.

Just a note, at least in the newer models the CS does not get any performance upgrades, so no brembo brakes, no track pack, etc. Any performance add-ons would have to be mods done after purchase... It does have a very nice interior, but with mine the 401a was vert close. Researched before I purchased and decided it was more important to get the mechanical upgrades over the CS looks.

If it is truly what you want and pristine with 30K haggle for it.
It is not worth 18.5K even with a safe boost Procharger.

The CS pkg. and the Procharger together might be worth 1K IMO.
Try to find out who tuned and installed the S/C.
A bad install will hurt the value.

Use the on-line tools like blue book, black book, edmunds, consumer reports to get an estimate of value. Don't worry about the supercharger when using those tools, generally they add no value for general purposes. If you want the supercharger then it's an added bonus.

Yeah, thanks, I am just beginning to do research. I'm actually starting to lean towards a Shelby GT500, maybe '07 or '08. I do like the stouter mechanicals in the GT500.


Thanks for comments. S/C was done by experienced local guy, but I kinda think I'd prefer PD (Roots or screw) boost versus centrifugal. I am looking at car mainly because it seems well maintained. I might make 'low-ball' offer if I really like the car.

Thanks man, I have been using those valuation tools for a long time. IMOH, the vast majority of sellers overprice their cars, it's frakkin' ridiculous. Usually when I make offer, the seller will accuse me of low-balling. But when I start showing them the book values, they usually shut up, LOL, amd most often we end up making a deal. I enjoy the process, mainly because it doesn't really matter if I get the car or not. I refuse to buy unless it's a fair and reasonable deal.

The California Special package was $1,895 when new so a decade later the additional value is very small unless the buyer really wants one for the 'looks'. The mods on the car you mentioned are not added value IMO. I wouldn't give up that 30k miles car if you like it and the car is in truly excellent condition. A one owner garage kept car that was loved has a premium attached to it. I would pay above 'book' for such an example. How much is up to you. For me, if book was $15k, I'd have no trouble paying an extra $2,000 for a car I just described. It's worth it. Don't forget the $18,500 is his asking price. Plenty of room probably for negotiations.

^^^ I agree with that amount. I think new ones are around $800 but haven't checked in a long time. I may be off. I responded in the other thread (2nd place award) about what my cost was originally.
