Joining the Team

It's official. We're leaving the GT500 club & joining the 50 years kona club.

I will miss the ragtop & the 5.8 rumble. But this kona car reminds me very much of my dad's 66 fastback.

Out with the old & in with the new.

Congrats!
Both are awesome cars. Did you trade the GT500 in or did you sell it outright?
Good luck and enjoy.

When trading a car in, you only pay sales tax on the difference. If I sold our car outright & then bought the new car, I would have to pay sales tax on the entire amount. That's THOUSANDS right there you can save!

I really wanted a RS3 but couldn't get a deal that I was happy with.

My dad's car looked like this. This new car reminds me very much of a modern rendition of that car. Great memories riding in the back seat sliding the vents open & closed.

It was a rainy, dreary day when I picked up the car; just like the day I picked up the GT500.

One of the few pictures of the two cars together before the swap.

Getting some gas on the way home.

Kona blue is such an awesome color.

Thank you.

Yes, there is a big difference in the ride quality of the two models. Also, the 5.0 is less forgiving regarding gear choice.

OP, congratulations on your new purchase. Can't say I understand why someone would get rid of a 13 Gt500 for the new mustang but none the less, congrats.

Sit in the two of them and you might understand. Also, just add a TVS / Ford Racing / Roush 2.3 blower to get 690bhp. The Shelby name was just added to SVT's hard work for 2013 so they could charge more for a Cobra.

Besides, we had 3 good years with the car & wanted to try something new.

As a former 2012 Boss and a 2008 Bullitt owner I totally get it...I was always attractive to the car when I first saw it. After 5 yrs of owning the boss which I loved to drive as a daily driver I was starting to lose interest due to traffic congestion and not having the funds to track it.

So on black Friday I made the plunge on an outstanding deal that I could not pass up. What an awesome car that has the boss/bullitt incorporated into it so its like I never got rid of the cars except I no longer hear the exhaust that the boss had but that is an easy fix.

Did you make any changes to your exhaust. I would probably goes this route to keep it as stock as possible.
