Watch a Powerful EcoBoost Mustang Die at the Drag Strip

Sadly, after a few impressive drag battles, this EcoBoost Mustang decided to die on the strip, just as it was lining up to battle again.

It’s been a couple of years since the debut of the EcoBoost-powered Ford Mustang, and the debate is still a hot one: which one is the Mustang to beat, or the one to tune? The 5.0 V8, or the turbocharged EcoBoost?

The answer to that question will surely vary, depending on who you ask, and the truth is that we may never know. But one thing is for sure: both engines can become extremely powerful with the right tweaks. Such is the case of the EcoBoost-powered Mustang featured in the BigKleib34 video below.

The video’s description doesn’t offer much when it comes to the engine mods or build details, but the frumpy exhaust note and exhaust woosh gives it away, and so does the title of the video. Duh. The turbocharged Mustang can be seen beating quite a few cars, including a V8-powered Mustang GT, only to come in second to a pretty-darn powerful Subaru WRX.

The Mustang makes a few runs down the drag strip, including a very strong quarter-mile run at 11.3 seconds and 124.84 mph. EcoBoost or V8, that’s a very respectable run. Sadly, after a few drag battles, the turbo pony car decided to die on the strip, just as it was lining up to battle again.

We don’t like to see any Mustangs die anywhere, but especially on the front lines, as we know how sad their owners must get. Unfortunately, it may be a while until this worthy EcoBoost promoter hits the strip again.

It ran an 11.06 and then it blew up, but the video doesn't show it so it's a waste of time, I want those 2 minutes of my life back.

I've seen puddles of oil before, was hoping to see the engine blow, flames, smoke, whatever .... saw none of that.

Worst. Video. Ever.
