Plasti Dip Wheels?

Plasti Dip Wheels?
So instead of spending at least a grand on some new wheels and tires I want to give plasti dip a try. I'm not really for plasti dip because in some instances it just looks and comes out looking cheap (which it is). But my stock 2013 V6 wheels are just so bright, there isn't much contrast or anything in them.
So I want to try plasti dip on my wheels to get them as black as possible. I also want to try their glossifier. And when I do it I'm going to leave the center caps and the lug nuts chrome, so there is something to pop out or shine so the wheels don't look like one big blob.
I have some questions. If anyone would share their experience that would be great! I was wondering who has done it while the wheels are on the car, or with them off? Also when you plasti dip the wheels did you just spray the front surface of them and not the entire inside (the full width of the tire and wheel). It's hard to explain.

Plastidip is really easy to use. On or off it'll work we'll. I did my friends off so that I could lay them down, and spray in better lighting. Just make sure that you take your time, and give time between layers. You'll probably end up messing up on 1 wheel, but that's the magic of it...peel it off and try again. The gloss spray is awesome. I sprayed 3 coats on, and it was purrrty.
I'd watch a couple YouTube videos to see technique and then have at it. Just remember, if you don't like it, peel it off. No issues!

i took mine off and they turned out great. i too left the lugs and center caps stock. it looks really good. gloss is good, but if done righ you get a satin finish with regular black. i had gunmetal for a bit but the black looks really good on mine.

I did my Escalade wheels 2 yrs ago and its holding strong, I left the wheels on the car, here is how I did it, it will save you a ton of time.
1. get some 3x5 index cards buy a ton of them
2. cover your brakes and calipers and anything inside your fender well, I used old towels that the wife wanted to trash or use old t-shirts that you want to throw away.
3. insert index cards between the wheel and the tire
4. go to town painting the wheel.
I got the best reults by waiting about 10 min between layers. I did 3 layers on each wheel, after the last coat remove the cards before they start to dry so you dont get any peeling of the paint. Hope this helps

Thanks everyone for the pics and tips! I appreciate it! I bought one can today from home depot, I'm going to test it one one of my wheels as soon as I can. It's just freezing and I need to find the time to do it because I drive a lot and don't want to rush it.
