If you haven't read the MT/C&D/R&T reviews by now, there's probably something wrong with you.
What do you guys think of your S197s after reading the first reviews?

I'm really liking my S197 since I got $8500 off MSRP and all the S550 guys are paying premiums for the new car.
I was wondering if the new car would be faster, but I ran my stone stock 5.0 Automatic car down the 1/4 mile and turned a 12.9@109.8 so the S197 is just as fast if not faster than the s550 in a straight line! I'm waiting to see what the new Automatic cars will run.
I think the new car will be refined and more comfortable ride on choppy roads, but I'm still not sold on the styling,....and price! It would have been difficult to spend $45k on a Mustang. The rebates/discounts sold me on S197!

Nothing has changed.
I got my '14 Mustang at the end of May. I had three criteria that were etched in stone: it had to be a GT Premium 'vert, it had to be a stick shift, and had to be NOW. I had just retired in April in the middle of a divorce, and I needed a major attitude adjustment ASAP.
The S550 is a beautiful car....let me be clear. But I wanted retro since the '05 appeared and the new Mustang didn't wow me enough to wait until next spring for a '15 drop top. And to add icing to the cake, I got a great price from my dealer on top of $3750 in Ford incentives. There was no way of knowing if similar deals would be offered on the '15.
The only downside (if you can find a negative about owning a GT) was that I took mine from dealer inventory so I was limited as to color choice.
Good, bad, or indifferent, reviews of the new Mustang don't, and won't, influence me or give me any reason to feel buyers remorse.
Good luck and wishes to everyone who is buying a new one. I'm excited for all of you. I look forward to seeing your pics, and reading about your personal likes and dislikes instead of from a publication.

I am so happy I got my 2014 instead of the 2015. The 2015 doesn't have the styling that I like compared to mine and even though I got the v6, I am still faster than the ecoboost mustang which is sad.
Ford could have done wonders with the 3.7L but chose to use their ecoboost and from the reviews, it didn't get them anywhere. I personally would rather say I have a v6 than a turbo 4. The v6 loves to rev and it is a lot of fun doing so. The turbo 4 is said not to like to rev and power falls off. That's not fun when taking a corner in a low gear and high rpms as you pull out of the apex. I don't know but even the economy on the ecoboost is marginally better maybe. We shall see how real world tests go.
I want to see them review a 2014 vs a 2015 and see where the improvements really are. The mustang name will never die but this seemed like a serious missed opportunity for Ford. I want to hear that the handling of the new IRS is amazing and that it handles like a world class car... kind of like they did when describing the handling of the 2005 mustang. Read the reviews of the 2005 mustang compared to the 2015 and you can tell the reviewer of the 2015 was disappointed.

Like many here, I got my 2014 due to situation and rebates. I had a choice to either fix my previous cars hail damage or take the insurance money and get into a new car and the ruby red track pack caught my eye and after a test drive I didn't care! There is something about the 2013-2014 styling I always liked, I like the Shelby front end and the taillights are some of my favorite on the road. The new model took away the grille fogs, something very iconically mustang in my eyes.
With the rebates, my preferences, and my situation, I made the better decision for me and got the 2014. I know it will depreciate quick, but if all goes well, I don't plan on ever getting rid of it! It's my dd now and when time comes I'm going to get a more family oriented DD and keep this as my toy keeping the mods simple til then, but it will be blowered and lowered when the time comes
I'm sure I would have liked the refinement of the s550. But the rawness of my "no frills mustang" as I call it is exactly what I wanted. No frills. My previous Focus ST3 was loaded up with everything, and it was a perfect DD for me but it didn't get me all fuzzy like feelings that go through all the driver inputs in a 5.0 mustang. That's part of the show too folks

The V6 is faster than the ecoboost 4-banger? That wasn't supposed to happen, was it?
Price as tested $37k - for a freakin' 4-cyl Fusion? Ford is clearly insane.
If I'm after fuel economy, I'd rather have a Fiesta or a Focus. If I want a Mustang, I'm probably not nearly as concerned about mileage...

I got my 14 because Glass Roof. I love the styling of the 10-14 S197s, but there are things I don't like about it. It's not perfect. The S550 is farther from perfect, but I could live with it. The nicer interior would have made a bigger difference to me, and financially, I would have been in a much better shape to buy an S550, but I am doing just fine with my 14. If the S550 was launched with a Glass Roof, I would have bought one. Period.

When is that like six months to a year from now? In the mean time there will have been thousands of reviews by the time you get your rental? I can't imagine rentals will be out soon?

Ford wants the car out there to be seen as soon as possible....no matter if it's an Eco Boost, 6, or GT. The best way to do that is to get them into fleet service quickly.
That's just my guess but it seems to make marketing sense.

Doesn't change my opinion at all! I practically stole ours (2014 v6 6,800k miles) for $17,995... I think the new versions look great, and I'm pumped for everyone buying on, but I don't need the newest of the new's price tag. I'd love to take a ride in one though!

That's what I paid for my car brand new (23miles)

I think you're on the right track. Back in the early 1990's I worked for Hertz as a transporter. We picked up the new cars from the local California rail yards and delivered them to the local Hertz agencies in CA. Back then, Ford owned Hertz and most of the rental cars were Fords. We were seeing some of the very first production models. I can't say how things are done now.

I think the 2018 GT will be a great Mustang. It'll take Ford that long to work the bugs out, and take me that long to get my 2013 paid off. Until then I'm happy. When I get my mods done I'll be happy, happy, and may not care about a 2018. Then again, if a 69 Cobra Jet comes along, I might part with the 2013, but I don't see that happening. It's a retro thing I guess.
