Aftermarket Subwoofer set-up (trunk)

I have a 2011 GT with the base stereo.

From the prior car I owned I have a Rockford/Fosgate Mono D AMP and two 12" Polk Audio Subs. Was an unreal setup in the prior vehicle.. It's why I kept the components... The box the Subs were in is gone as it was BIG and fit in the back of an SUV, but I did save the subs and the AMP.

Old box with Subs still in them...

I was thinking of getting a single box for the two 12's but that would take away the pass thru in the trunk and limit space.

Instead I'm thinking of getting a boxed 10" sub for the back right corner of the Trunk and using the amp plus new front speakers.

I've seen a SALEEN 12" side box once but I don't think they're available for purchase (stand alone part). I like the idea of using the back corners instead of eliminating central space or the pass thru..

What have you people done???

Appreciate the thoughts.

MTX Thunderform FMUST05D12A

JL Audio Stealthbox:

Both will take a 12" speaker.

Perfect if I could get just the BOX.... I think that is a AMP BOX SUB assembly.

The MTX can definitely be bought as box only. It's what I bought for my car.

Not sure about the JL Audio though.

Do you have a source on where you purchased?

I called Crutchfield on that JL Box and the guy said it's a 13.5 Sub and Box assembly. Also said it's for a 2010... The picture shows a 2011 or later..

I'm digging the JL Audio stealthbox. I am looking for a low profile box that won't take up much room and the trunk, and that is **** near perfect.

They advertize working on 2005-2009, but I can confirm it works on 2010 and up as well. The one thing I would suggest is to make a small braket for the top. It's only held down by 2 screws on the bottom and wiggles without a top bracket. I just used a small, flat piece of sheet metal, bent it, and drilled holes in it so I could mount it to the top of the box and the chassis. Works great.

Is the MTX box a plastic, fiberglass or mdf box?

$300 is insane just for a box

Is there a cheaper solution

After reading this thread I started looking around and it looks like Ebay is full of 80 dollar single 12" boxes.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/2005-2013-FORD-MUSTANG-CUSTOM-STEREO-SINGLE-12-SUB-BOX-SUBWOOFER-ENCLOSURE-NEW-/310795017173?pt=US_Speaker_Sub_Enclosures&hash=item485cd39bd5&vxp=mtr
I don't know how well they fit though.

There was no change to the trunk area for 2011+
If it says it fits a 2010, it will fit in 2010-2014 models.

Nice, I also added speakers and need a separate amp or powered Head Unit next..

I can barely turn up the gain on the sub, after I power up the speakers it'll balance out and sound outstanding... Pretty good right now, love a good sound system.
